Tuan Chau is designed by Pacific Coast Design, who previously completed the Kings Island – Mountainview, Heron Lakes, and Ruby Tree courses. Located on reclaimed land on Tuan Chau Island, the par 72 golf course is partially bordered by Ha Long Bay. Spanning from 7,388 yards to 5,220 yards in length,
The layout of Tuan Chau consists of two sets of nine holes, giving it a somewhat links-style atmosphere with its undulating greens, rolling fairways, and over 100 small pot bunkers. However, unlike typical fake links-style courses, Tuan Chau incorporates water hazards on all but two holes, alongside several large beach bunkers and palm trees. This design pays homage to the origins of golf rather than imitating a true links-style course. The use of Platinum Seashore Paspalum grass ensures suitable playing conditions year-round.
Ha Long Bay Golf Club opened for play in August 2017. Twenty minutes from Ha Long City and three hours from Hanoi, the 18-hole championship Schmidt-Curley designed layout offers stunning scenic ocean views over the famous UNESCO world heritage site. The golf course sits above the old town of Ha Long Bay and overlooks the spectacular limestone karst-riddled bay. The dramatic terrain offers a drastic departure from the sandy dunes of coastal Vietnamese golf sites.
