Golf KUNMING China: Situated in the northeastern region of Kunming City, Sunshine Golf Club Kunming is encircled by lush vegetation and mountains. Sunshine Golf Club is one of the top 5 golf courses in Kunming and another design by renowned American golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. Sunshine Golf Club was awarded Golf Digest’s “best golf award” in 2007. Additionally, Golf Master named it “the Sixth Best Course in China” in 2009.
The first golf course in Kunming, Kunming Country Golf Club, opened for play in 1997. Australian golf course architect Les Watts created Kunming Country Golf Club. The course measures 7109 yards in overall length, with 71 pars. Par 72 was altered to 71 in 2011 after being rebuilt by International Management Group. The Kunming Country Golf Club blends in seamlessly with its surroundings and makes use of the natural landform as well. It features a lot of acute dogleg right holes. Playing this course could be difficult because there aren’t many opportunities to make a birdie.
The Lakeview Course at Spring City Golf & Lake Resort follows Yang Zong Hai Lake’s meandering shoreline. Known as the “Father of Environmental Golf Course Design,” Robert Trent Jones Jr. personally developed this course, which has gained international recognition. Narrow fairways, crisscrossing ditches, strong lake breezes, and tiered greens are some of its remarkable features; all of these are set against the stunning background of the lake. Golf fans consider it to be among the most difficult courses because of these features. The Lakeview Course at Spring City Golf & Lake Resort was named the fifth-best course in Asia by Golf Travel magazine in 2021 and ranked #77 in the world’s top 100 golf courses by Golf Digest.
